This is Africa Covid-19 statement – Updated 16th April 2020
During these unprecedented times we want to reassure our clients that we are doing our upmost to manage all current bookings efficiently and with minimal financial impact on our clients. We remain open for business and have contacted all our clients travelling before 30 June 2020 to discuss their options. Travellers holidaying after the 30 June will be contacted on a departure date basis shortly. Bookings which include flights booked by This is Africa will also be prioritized in order to meet applicable airline requirements.
We are pleased that most clients are postponing their travel plans, as opposed to cancelling. Having an African holiday to look forward to when the uncertainty of this pandemic passes will be a welcome light at the end of the isolation tunnel. Many African countries rely on travel and tourism economically and the current downturn in business is impacting them immensely. Monies raised through tourism support local African communities and are imperative in maintaining wildlife conservation programs. By postponing your travels you give hope to the businesses, communities and programs dependent on visitors to Africa.
Many bookings involve the services of multiple suppliers and each supplier has different terms and conditions and Covid-19 policies. Therefore, changes to all bookings are in consultation with our suppliers and restrictions may apply. Should your new travel dates fall into a different financial year, or season, an increase may apply. Revised quotations will be based on the applicable exchange rate at the time of re-quoting.
If postponement isn’t possible and you wish to cancel your booking, please refer to our standard cancellation terms and conditions. We will do our best to negotiate the best terms possible with our suppliers and to mitigate losses to our clients. Should you wish to make an insurance claim with your travel insurer, please let us know and we will write an insurance letter to assist your claim.
We would like to thank you for your support and patience during this challenging time. For many of our clients a trip to Africa is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we understand the disappointment and frustration you no doubt feel having to change your travel plans. We sincerely hope that you will have the opportunity to travel to Africa in the not too distant future.
