Botswana eases COVID-19 entry requirements – 14th February 2022

This is Africa is a rapidly growing wholesale and retail travel company which specialises in selling tailor-made and package tours to Africa.

We can now confirm the new rules as of teh 14th February are as follows:

  • Fully vaccinated travellers (those who took all the doses and booster) are allowed entry without a PCR test (please carry your vaccine proof with you).
  • Fully vaccinated travellers (those who took both doses with the second dose less than six months ago) are allowed entry without a negative PCR.
  • Partially vaccinated (those who haven’t taken all the doses, whose second jab was more than 6 months ago, or are waiting for their 2nd dose) require a negative PRC not older than 72 hours test to enter Botswana.
  • Non-vaccinated require a negative PCR test (not older than 72 hours at time of arrival into Botswana).
  • Under 12 years (up to the age of 11 years) are exempt from the vaccination rule and do not need a PCR test.
  • The rapid anitgen testing on arrival has been dropped along with the introduction of the above new rules.

The definition of fully vaccinated is 2 doses of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Sinovac not older than 6 months, if longer than six months ago then a booster or a negative PCR test is required to enter Botswana. Johnson & Johnson is only valid for 2 months.

Botswana is handling returning citizens and residents in a different way. The above rules are making sure that seamless travel for international guests continues to be possible.
